Chlorella reaction

Dear Dr. Rea,
I am recovering from chemical injury. When I include chlorella or any type of algae in my protocol for detoxing I get a severe reaction which includes severe neurological symptoms and systemic inflammation. More severe than my usual detoxing symptoms. Could I be allergic to the algae or could the chlorella be causing me to detox heavy metals too fast? How do I know the difference between a true allergy to the product and heavy detox? I did not react negatively to the chlorella when I was muscle tested. I do not want to stop taking the chlorella if it is indeed going to help me in the long run. But feel as though I am poisoning myself when using it. Thank you for any input you can provide.

Dr. Rea’s response:
You certainly could be allergic to algae. It is doubtful that your severe immediate reactions are from a rapid heavy metal detoxification. Skin testing can confirm whether this is a true allergy or not. If you feel you are poisoning yourself when you take it, trust your body and stop using it!
