Managing MCS
Swine flu and the chemically sensitive
with William J. Rea, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.A.E.M.

Environmental Health

Dear Dr. Rea,
I read online in several places that deaths caused by the H1N1 virus (swine flu) can be the result of a “cytokine storm” in which the molecules of the body that are supposed to protect it react too strongly. Do you think the chemically sensitive population is more vulnerable to severe illness from H1N1? Beyond general hygiene, are there any recommendations you can make regarding defense against and treatment of H1N1 for chemically sensitive persons? Thank you.

Dr. Rea’s response:
There is a subset of people with chemical sensitivity that can get every infection that comes along. They would be more vulnerable to Swine flu. With onset of H1N1, I recommend taking Vitamin A, micelle, 1 dropper full 3x day for 3 days only, no more. Vitamin A and micelle is liquid vitamin A and can be purchased at our foundation (call 800.428.2343). Simultaneously, take Vitamin C, 1000 mg. per hour the first day, and zinc throat lozenges. Also, flu neutralization shots might help.
