with Stephen Harrod Buhner, master herbalist
I notice you mention stephania root for lyme carditis, but my cardiac symptoms are more related to co-infections. Houttuynia has helped somewhat with bartonella cardiac symptoms, but artemesia and cryptolepis have not helped so far with babesia cardiac symptoms. Do you have other recommendations for carditis caused by coinfections as well as lyme? Also, I noticed that stephania, houttuynia, and artemesia are all “cool” or “cold” herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory. Can you recommend good warming herbs to combine them with or do you recommend this at all?
Stephen’s response:
I do not usually use that metaphor for herbal use, it is more common to herbalism from India or China. I would suggest you try both hawthorn and astragalus for the heart problems.
