Re|shelter was founded in 2010 to address the urgent need for housing alternatives for people with environmental sensitivities. Proceeds of the auction will go directly to their Housing Renovation Grants program, which will award small grants to eligible individuals being displaced by disabling environmental intolerances, for the purpose of creating a “safe oasis” in their home. All too often, when first disabled by severe environmental intolerances, people are forced to live in their cars, in tents in the woods, horse trailers, and other unconventional housing alternatives. With re|shelter’s grant program, their hope is to help keep families together, prevent homelessness, and buy time for medical care and longer term housing solutions to be worked out.
