my mood today

about me
I was chemically injured about five years ago. After being homeless for a while (and finally finding a safe place w. a friend), my partner and I ended up buying land and building a small, healthy home. Our families are both supportive, as are many of our friends, so we feel lucky. But we lost all our stuff, much of our trust in the world, money, my future goals, etc., etc.
I've been part of other EI groups and have been discouraged by the despair and overwhelmed by other people's stories. Your site is attractive and upbeat and focused on activism and solutions, which matches where I am at these days. I want to find more ways to reach out and make a nontoxic stink :).
I work part-time at home and I write. I'm working on publishing some of the essays and poems I've written about this experience.
And currently, I'm trying to help my mom as she deals with cancer. The cancer center she is going to is full up with patients. They have room deodorizers in the bathroom and fragrance in all the hand cleansers. I've really had it, and am looking for some community around speaking up and educating big and small entities...both in practical ways and through nonfiction and poetry.
Thanks for putting this resource together!

hey cweeber, so glad you found your way here. do you have anything you want to share with the world via our gallery of written word/poetry/essays (see "expression" area of the site)? i'm so sorry to read about your mom's cancer (and the fragrance stinking up the place she's in!) but it is inspiring to see you want to convert that pain and anger into something completely productive. welcome to our site. hope you like it here! julie send comment back
