about me
|
Hi,
I am a 46-year-old woman who's been suffering from slight imperceptible full-body tremors around the clock for 1.5 years and, since early 2008 (4.5 months at this point), my overall symptoms have gotten worse (still imperceptible to anyone else looking at me) and my facial symptoms have gotten really bad. They include burning and itching and twitching and feeling like there are insects crawling on it. My face feels swollen as well.
Tests by over 10 doctors (neurologists, allergist, dermatologist, rheumatologist, internists, and internist, and internists) have come up negative. Fortunately, it seems I do not have a brain tumor, Lyme disease, lupus, standard allergies ("nothing you eat or drink," but I think that doctor was definitely wrong); and that, many years ago, I was MISdiagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.
I am overweight, mostly sedentary, and have only started eating more healthy since the onset of these very upsetting facial symptoms. I'm a type II diabetic and have battled high cholesterol as well.
Lately I've begun to realize that it gets worse whenever I eat something other than organic cereal. I have a limited budget and organic foods are so expensive.
When I drink water -- tap, bottled, distilled -- my swollen face reacts; when I eat spicy foods it reacts; when I splash water on my face or pat it with a towel or run my fingers over my face, it reacts.
Actually, it's always bad, but just gets a lot worse for hours each day. When I'm hot it reacts.
I can barely function, am -- as of today -- going to leave NYC and move in with my parents in Raleigh. Hopefully it will be less polluted down there, my parents' companionship and support will help, and there will be a doctor or doctors at Duke who can help.
But, like many of you, I'm desperate, miserable, and can't understand why not a single person has said, "Oh, I've heard of that. It's probably this." I haven't yet been tested for heavy metals, but hope to on Monday.
Was this what you meant by "About Me" or have I frightened any and all readers away already?
Oh, and while I don't have peripheral neuropathy, something is causing neuropathy, I think. I have been a writer for most of my adult life, my hands and feet are in pain, and typing is painful because my wrists are swollen (or the nerves inside are). The recent "you don't have peripheral neuropathy, but you do have carpal tunnel in your right hand [the one on which I had the carpal tunnel operation years ago]" is confusing because both hands and wrists and arms feel equally miserable.
Perfumes and "essential oils" and other strong smells have bothered me for 20 years as does industrial cleaning supplies used in my building.
Thanks for listening and I hope someone out there recognizes these symptoms and can provide some suggestions.
