Born 12-09-1946, in Amsterdam as a daughter of a chain smoking artist painter working at home, caused in me chemical overload and sensitivities already in an early age.
…Researches at Radboud University, Nijmegen 2005, proofed that painters’ children have more congenital deviations than carpenters’ offspring... I loved express myself in many different artistic ways and from 1963 until half 1967 visited classes at the Rietveld academy, Amsterdam, division free graphical arts, and specialized in xylography.
Got a studio among other artists’ places, a book published about my graphical work: Mirjam Ruijter Grafies werk 1967-1986 which concluded a productive period ending the same year after exposure to a kind of floor paint which nowadays is forbidden for inside use.
Chronic fatigue and more and more complaints by all kinds of chemicals caused a change in life and artistic matter too. Since an escape for cleaner air to Vancouver Island, Canada, 2004, I make digital photographs, resulting in, after a almost a year staying in Thailand, a photo postcard booklet named: “GONE BANANAS? GONE BANANAS!
