Dear Stephen,
I recently was diagnosed with lyme and came back positive on both sides of the Western Blot test. I have been sick for ten years or more and symptoms just got worse. Went from overactive bladder, inner ear degeneration, eye nystagmus, vertigo, balance and coordination problems, sensory problems, to joint pain and numbness in fingers and toes, twitches in my eyelid, face tingling and confusion and disorientation. I have been on your protocol for one month on the lowest dose along with taking doxycycline. I felt just a touch better a week in and now feel horrible. I understand about the herxeimer effect but how long should this last? Do you have any idea when I should start feeling better? The andographis I take from Planetary Herbals says to not take for more than ten days in a row. Is it ok to take for a year? I am getting some itching problems from the protocol. Is it the andrographis, do you think? Should I up the amount of herbs I am taking to feel better? Thanks for all your hard work helping us with lyme.
Stephen’s response:
I would discontinue the andrographis and use the following: knotweed root, cat’s claw, eleutherococcus as your primary protocol, as outlined in the book. After 30 days, if you are not feeling a lot better, add rhodiola tincture 30 drops 3x daily and write again.
Stephen

This protocol was incredible. After only a few weeks most of my symptoms were gone. After six months all my symptoms were gone… it has given me my life back.

is this herx or negative due to combo of herbs and doxy or
negative reaction due to the herbs?
do some have undefined ‘allergy ‘ to herbs ..thus complicating the plan?

    dear Stephen,
I believe I have had lyme for 19 yrs. I tested positive once and negative once and did not have the financial ability to keep paying for non- conclusive medical advice. I chose to not take pain killers or anti-depressants. The unusual thing is I suffer extremely painful attacks, often with hormone cycle that last about 24 hours ( rarely 3 days). My whole body feels like it is being shattered into bits. Burning sensation running down my legs and skin. When it passes i feel great and doctors report I am super healthy, which feels weird after going through something so traumatic/ surreal. i have had several good years in a row here an there,
once four years while I was free diving daily working in Hawaii.

Is it possible for lyme to come and go like this?

I want to take the CSA formula you suggest. Should I be concerned with extreme Hertz reaction? I have never used antibiotics/ allopathic medicines in my lifetime, however without really knowing what was wrong with me, over the years I responded well to cats claw, adographis, oregano, clay baths and green/ simple foods.
I would welcome any incite you have.
    Sincerely,
    Sharon

I know this thread is old but DOXY has plenty of side effects. Just be warned. It’s almost always the doxy to blame when it comes to side effects or unusual behavior or thoughts.

Herxheimer Rxn Is Not due to herbal allergies or antibiotics such as Doxycycline; It’s due to the Lyme bacterial toxins released when they are killed off by these antibiotics.
