Which stephania to use for Bell’s palsy?

by | Mar 17, 2013 | Columns, Healing Lyme, Herbs, stephania root | 5 comments

Dear Stephen,
Thank you so much for your excellent book and website. My daughter was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy (right side) and lyme. Recently, I purchased stephania from Green Dragon Botanicals, but it was only Stephania tetrandra (20-30 drops 3 x daily in water). The percentage of alcohol is not indicated. So I purchased from BioPure organic stephania root which has both S tetrandra and S cepharantha (stephania root and organic corn alcohol – 55% mix). The dosage is 1 drop per day, increasing every 4 days to make 16 drops. The recommended doses for both are not what your book prescribed and I would like your advice as to which stephania I should use for Bell’s palsy and lyme.

Stephen’s response:
Use either stephania, both work fine. Regarding dosage, I am a high dose person for the most part. For some people per drop dosing does work but for most people it does not. I would use higher doses myself, at least 1/8 tsp 3x daily and most likely ¼ tsp. Most dosages on bottles are conservative, especially in the US. In the UK, dosages tend to be much higher, and in Africa and Asia very high.
Stephen

This protocol was incredible. After only a few weeks most of my symptoms were gone. After six months all my symptoms were gone… it has given me my life back.

How did the Stephania work for that lady? Got Bell’s Palsy on December 14th 2013 and still struggling to get rid of it; it is 80% gone but 20% NOT! OMG! If that Stephania stuff works, I’ll run to the store immediately and buy. I want my eyes to STOP running water and the right side of my face to work again; OMG! This Bell’s Palsy is HORRIBLE! OMG!

    Dear Stephen,
I also want to thank you for your excellent book and website.
I was diagnosed with itiopatic Bell’s palsy (left side) on March 10 2015, first lyme test was negative. It was only after four months in July 30 of 2015 after getting new symptoms and seeing 15 Drs. I was diagnosed with lyme. I just found out and started taking Stephania tetrandra and taking 50 drops 3x a day. This is my second day. Please let me know if I am taking an adequate dosage and if there is another herb I should be taking as well.
    thank you,
    Patricia

I’ve been struggling with Lyme related Bells on right side for 5 months now. Wondering if you ever got back 100% normal. I’m so frustrated by Bells and sad I may never get back to normal. Ed
