Andrew Abrahams and his media company Open Eye Pictures are currently in post production for the film “Complicated – The Movie.” They are the same company that brought us “Under Our Skin,” a 2008 film about the untold story of Lyme disease and co-infections. “Complicated” is a harrowing journey of young people and their families navigating failing medical and child protective systems that cannot handle rare and complex illness like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a serious inherited connective tissue disorder. Many of us know what it’s like not to believed by our doctors and to be told our conditions are “all in our head” but when children are involved, it becomes much more dangerous, as many parents are losing custody of their sick children and their children are being denied appropriate medical care for their conditions.
