Long-time Planet Thrive member and CFS/MCS/EHS patient-advocate Amelia Hill has published her third book of motivational messages, And Then One Day: 90 Days of Inspirational New Ways to See your One Precious Life. Her Amazon book page describes the book as a “… powerful, life-affirming book written especially for women on a journey of personal growth and discovery” and that it “reminds us that healing and transformation are possible when we decide to see everything from a brave new perspective.”
Amelia is a seasoned pro at reframing her life view. If you’re familiar with her story, she has been challenged by a severe case of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)/myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) concurrent with chemical and electromagnetic sensitivities that left her bed- and wheelchair-bound for years and required round-the-clock care from her devoted Mother. During some of the hardest years of her life, she managed to design and build her very own non-toxic home next door. Then life threw a big curve ball and one of her corneas burst around the same time as her Mother (who was also her full time carer, and best friend) passed away. It was a time of great emotional and physical pain, and uncertainty about her future and yet, as many of us on chronic and severe health journeys know, a period of great internal and spiritual growth.
Amelia dug deep and pulled out the most determined, optimistic version of herself. She instituted a committed schedule of meditation and somatic exercises early every morning, and worked on writing her books as much as her body would allow each day. She began making daily motivational videos and creating a social media presence. She was a woman on a mission and she would not let her physical limitations, disability, or life circumstances get in the way.
She was absolutely steadfast in her vision and consistent with her actions, and now, several years later, her social media followers have been amazed to see her life transforming before our very eyes, as she shares mini movies of her life almost every day. She went from living in her Mother’s bathroom for years, being pushed around in a wheelchair, and isolated from almost every aspect of modern life, to dancing on the beach and visiting high-end clothing stores, museums, the best food markets and cafes. She’s been entertaining groups of friends in her home, doing lots of baking (as usual) but finally able to eat her own treats, and sewing up an amazing new wardrobe on a budget. She’s now able to tolerate a bed and sheets, and her home is fully furnished and looks fabulous.
All of her milestones are carefully documented and shared on her Facebook and Instagram accounts. As with everything Amelia Hill does, it is all done with such style, flair and raw talent, it often boggles the mind for those of us who have followed her journey for years, knowing how debilitated she once was. From her beautifully designed graphic book covers, to her stylized food photos, self-made dresses, and her well-appointed custom home, it is clear Amelia has a special gift for design and the ability to make all of her dreams come true. If you’d like a hefty dose of inspiration, watch her videos, and read her latest book: And Then One Day. It would make the perfect gift for any girlfriend who is in need of a loving pick-me-up and reminder of her intrinsic value and worth, and would make a stylish addition to any coffee table or nightstand.
And then one day she realised …
she must make the dreams she had for her life
more important to her
than any devastation or disappointment
she felt in the present.
Because when she moved with such
forward leaning devotion,
no setback could ever derail her.
