  • Julie Genser, founder of Planet Thrive

Earthwalker is the username that PT founder Julie Genser created for her online interactions so many years ago when first creating Planet Thrive.

Julie's (Earthwalker's) life was derailed over twenty years ago when she had a very large organic mercury exposure after she naively used a mouth thermometer to measure the temperature of just-boiled milk while making her very first pizza at home. The mercury instantly expanded into a gas form and exploded out the back of the thermometer right into her face. Unaware that mercury was the third most neurotoxic element on Earth, Julie had no idea she had just received a very high dose of a poisonous substance.

A series of subsequent toxic exposures over the next few years -- to smoke from two fires (including 9/11), toxic mold, lyme disease, and chemical injuries -- caused catastrophic damage to her health. While figuring out how to survive day-to-day, and often minute-to-minute, she created Planet Thrive to help others avoid some of the misdiagnoses and struggles she had experienced.

She has clawed her way over many health mountains to get to where she is today. She is excited to bring the latest iteration of Planet Thrive to the chronic illness community.

In 2019, Julie published her very first cookbook e-book called Low Lectin Lunches (+ Dinners, Too!) after discovering how a low lectin, gluten free diet was helping manage her chronic fascia/muscle pain.

I find it very interesting that quite a few comedians suffer from depression…I guess the comedy is a coping mechanism??

Also, gets me so mad that almost all the links I found for Jeremy Piven’s mercury poisoning automatically doubted his diagnosis and assumed he was just trying to get out of work or was tired from partying too hard. Very frustrating. Why doesn’t America take mercury poisoning seriously – almost all of us are at risk between the amalgams in our mouths, the fish we eat, and the coal-powered electricity plants that spew out mercury into our air.

Another name you might add, although I’m not sure how open she is about it, is Whoopi Goldberg with “perfume allergy”.
It is severe enough that when they had a actress come to The View to promote a new perfume, Whoopi suddenly realized that she had to protect herself; the actress, and all the audience members, had to sign contracts saying that they would not open the bottled perfume while on set, and that the actress would not wear her new perfume to the set that day!
With those kinds of protective measures, it certainly sounds like mcs to me!

Thanks Lady…in order to add a name to our list, we must have a published story link to go with it; the celebrity must be “out” about their illness. I’ll do a search for this online and if you find one before me, send it over and I will post it. Thanks so much for mentioning it! J

    RE: Health Challenged Celebrities

They forgot a few obvious very famous ones such as

Cancer: Sandra Schmirler #81 Greatest Canadian, Terry Fox # 2 Greatest Canadian,

Mental Illness: Robert Munsch # 78 Greatest Canadian though American born, Romeo Dallaire # 16 Greateat Canadian,

Athma: Jacques Plante (inventer of the facemask), David Suzuki # 5 Greatest Canadian,

Flesh Eating Disease: Jim Henson (the Muppets and Sesame Street), Lucien Bouchard (first leader of the BQ, PQ Priemier, Diplomat – believe it or not, it is funny when a separatist has a leg amputated)

Traumatic Brain Injury: Robert Munsch (the two are a bit related in his case), Chris Benoit (see fifth)

Except for Christ Benoit, who probably had no clue what was wrong with him before he died, they all meet your criteria as “out”

You really make it appear so easy together with your presentation but I to find this topic to be really something that I believe I
might never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and
very large for me. I’m taking a look ahead for your subsequent put up,
I will attempt to get the hang of it!
