New Lyme Movie: Under The Eightball

Under the Eight BallThe production company Andalusian Dogs has made a new lyme movie called Under the Eightball that “reveals the shocking yet little-known roots of lyme disease in the US Biological Weapons program and their subsequent effort to conceal it.”

In 2006, one of the filmmakers witnessed his sister deteriorate fairly quickly after coming down with a mysterious illness that confounded doctors and evaded diagnosis. Ultimately, the two favored diagnoses were Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) and Lyme disease. The filmmaker writes:

…when Lori described a bite she had that was surrounded with Lyme’s trademark round red rash, commonly called a “bulls-eye,” why didn’t doctors start her on a routine regimen of antibiotics? If untreated Lyme’s can cause debilitating arthritis and joint swelling, meningitis, blindness, fatigue, droopy eyes and other serious conditions. Why wouldn’t doctors prescribe the harmless antibiotics?

We were all very scared at what was happening to Lori and we had discovered, but even more frightening was the possibility that this was something that could have been prevented…. or worse that it was intentional in the name science and National Security… I had questions… many questions. And I’d be damned if they went unanswered.

And so starts his inquiry into the history of lyme disease.

You can watch a trailer for the movie below:

Earthwalker is the username that PT founder Julie Genser created for her online interactions so many years ago when first creating Planet Thrive.

Julie's (Earthwalker's) life was derailed over twenty years ago when she had a very large organic mercury exposure after she naively used a mouth thermometer to measure the temperature of just-boiled milk while making her very first pizza at home. The mercury instantly expanded into a gas form and exploded out the back of the thermometer right into her face. Unaware that mercury was the third most neurotoxic element on Earth, Julie had no idea she had just received a very high dose of a poisonous substance.

A series of subsequent toxic exposures over the next few years -- to smoke from two fires (including 9/11), toxic mold, lyme disease, and chemical injuries -- caused catastrophic damage to her health. While figuring out how to survive day-to-day, and often minute-to-minute, she created Planet Thrive to help others avoid some of the misdiagnoses and struggles she had experienced.

She has clawed her way over many health mountains to get to where she is today. She is excited to bring the latest iteration of Planet Thrive to the chronic illness community.

In 2019, Julie published her very first cookbook e-book called Low Lectin Lunches (+ Dinners, Too!) after discovering how a low lectin, gluten free diet was helping manage her chronic fascia/muscle pain.

I have to admit, it’s unlikely I’ll see this — not because I don’t want to, but because it’s not likely to screen anywhere near me, and I can’t afford to just buy the movie. Part of the problem is that unlike movies like ‘Under Our Skin’ and other documentaries uncovering problems in ‘the system’, this trailer comes across a bit like ‘Area 51’-style conspiracy propaganda. Unfortunately, this style of trailer will likely damage the credibility of the movie before it’s even out of the shoot.

I agree, it will be off-putting to many and is probably why we haven’t heard of it before now. They should have made the personal story more prominent (and maybe it is but it doesn’t show in the trailer) . I would still like to see it though…when it comes to video or online.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see the movie at a private screening. It hasn’t hit theaters yet, but the trailer is not even close to revealing the magnitude of this movie!

Let me tell you, whether you’re a hard nosed skeptic or a lyme sufferer or whatever, this movie is incredible. People were crying and many were literally shocked at the content of this film. It’s worth a look… you heard it from me first. ;-P

The movie will be available for download to your computer in December for around $10 i have heard from one of the film makers.

It is raw and full of emotion, a brothers love for his sister and what a family went through.

    Truly a labor of love….
