Dear Stephen,
I’m a beginner from Poland. Can you tell me, why isn’t andrographis in the core protocol now? (I’ve got the first edition of Healing Lyme and it is in there…) My mum has lyme and I don’t now which of the herbs she should take. She is 72 years old. In November, she only had Erythema-Migrans. I’m trying to find a way to prevent full blown lyme. Right now, she hasn’t got highly worrying symptoms. She’s taking Acidum Acetylsalicylicum 1 tab per day. Can she take this with Japanese knotweed and cat’s claw?
Stephen’s response:
Actually I do recommend andrographis, it is a part of the protocol outlined in the
second edition of the book. I have gone back and forth with the herb for two reasons: 1) it only helps around 60% of the people who use it and 2) there are severe allergic reactions to it in about one percent of users. Nevertheless, it does offer significant help for many and does help most to some extent. It is the best antibacterial for lyme, at least that we have seen in clinical practice. I don’t see any problem in her taking the other herbs.

Stephen Harrod Buhner was an Earth poet and an award-winning author of twenty-four books on nature, indigenous cultures, the environment, and herbal medicine including the acclaimed book Healing Lyme: Natural Healing & Prevention of Lyme Borreliosis & Its Co-infections.
Stephen came from a long line of healers including Leroy Burney, Surgeon General of the United States under Eisenhower and Kennedy, and Elizabeth Lusterheide, a midwife and herbalist who worked in rural Indiana in the early nineteenth century. The greatest influence on his work, however, was his great-grandfather C.G. Harrod who primarily used botanical medicines, also in rural Indiana, when he began his work as a physician in 1911.
Stephen’s work has appeared or been profiled in publications throughout North America and Europe including Common Boundary, Apotheosis, Shaman’s Drum, The New York Times, CNN, and Good Morning America. Stephen lectured yearly throughout the United States on herbal medicine, the sacredness of plants, the intelligence of Nature, and the states of mind necessary for successful habitation of Earth.
He was a tireless advocate for the reincorporation of the exploratory artist, independent scholar, amateur naturalist, and citizen scientist in American society – especially as a counterweight to the influence of corporate science and technology.

Dear Stephen,
my 3-years old daugther take andrographis, maybe for month. Could You recomended something else for my child?
Magda
Stephen – I had Lyme 20 years ago. Must’ve had the neuroborelliosis – severe migraine headaches at the time, memory issues (which still persist – mostly word finding), I’ve never been the same. Has impacted musculoskeletal system. Everything just seems to hurt, mostly my hips. Every MD tells me I’ve been treated (Doxycycline PO for a month) and I’m just getting old (they’ve been telling me this since I was treated at 32). I was wondering if I should be tested specifically for any coinfections? If so, how do I find someone to order this test? What tests should I be looking for? Should I just jump in and start your protocol? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and hard work with a community that suffers and is generally tossed to the side by the medical community.
Hi Magda,
The Q & A is no longer taking new questions. Please check the archives on our site for children’s herbs and doses. You can use the search tool or check the drop down navigation menu. Here is a direct link to start with: https://buhnerhealinglyme.com/category/lyme/children/ and a past Q & A about a 3 year old: https://buhnerhealinglyme.com/herbs/3-yr-old-with-lyme/. Best, Julie
I have almost identical symptoms. First had lyme 16 years ago. Recently was bitten again and docs say the same thing, “You had doxy, you’re cured.” Huh??? Finally found a LLD who told me about biofilm and explained how lyme and the co-infections fit in. Am just about to start IV treatments supported by diet, vitamin, nutrition and exercise regimen. I recommend McFadzean’s latest book along with her Lyme Diet book and Bryon Rosner’s Freedom from Lyme.

Hello I’m looking for author of this question. I’m from Poland too and my mother was diagnosed with lyme 3 weeks ago. She is already after antybiotics therapy but it looks like it didn’t help. I wanted to ask you how did your mother cure lyme and what were your suorces of herbs. It would be great if you could answer my comment.
All the best
Ola
You may find answers in the updated book. no more questions are answered here.
Thank you for all you are doing to relieve suffering. I am newly diagnosed with lyme and mycoplasm, allergic to antibiotics. Which do i treat first lyme or myco? Also what is the collagen protocol for supporting collagen loss? My knee cartilage is gone.
Andrographis has zillions of great qualities… Have you investigated Graviola… I discovered that recently – can only find online — but up there with Andrographis or better… Carnicom Institute recommends N Acetyl Cysteine for the Morgellons bacteria – not sure if it will help Lymes but builds glutathione so can’t hurt… Another is R Lipoic Acid.. I’ve been researching these things for years now and these come up as some of the top supplements for these kind of problems… Also homeopathy has some miracle workers as well and work on a vibrational level so can get to places in body where other things can’t…. also homeopathy can help stabilize the body that is under attack… I’ve written a Parasite guide with homeopathic and herbal and also a general homeopathy guide for the laymen… let me know if you would like to know more.
Hi Nan I would like know more! Thanks
