Lyme disease with mycoplasma and co-infections

Dear Stephen,
For more than 1.5 years, I have used so many different antibiotics in high dosage (both IV and oral) along with many other pharmaceuticals and also supplements for lyme disease including five co-infections: mycoplasma, ehrlichia, yersinia, Chlamydia pneumonia and bartonella. The list of remedies I’ve tried is too long to mention. Although none of these remedies have brought symptom relief (on the contrary), the lab results of the mentioned infections did improve considerably. For the past three months, I have been taking andrographis, Japanese knotweed, cat’s claw, smilax, eleuthero, stephania root, boneset, red root, cryptolepsis, houttuynia and
selenium. I use all the recommended brands and on the highest dosages like mentioned in your wonderful book. I also use many of the supplements that you recommend and an anti-inflammation diet. However, I feel no improvements nor any symptom relief. Fatigue is something that does not improve at all. I’ve attached an easy, chronologic overview of my diagnoses from 1996 – 2010, an overview of all medicines used in the last two years, and an overview of all laboratory results of the past two years to help inform your response. I hope you can help me out. Many thanks!

Stephen’s response:
I am assuming that these are the current symptoms you are dealing with, so I am going to base my response on that. I also need to know your age; I didn’t see it in the other material (though it may be there someplace).

• chronic fatigue
• nose bleeding
• blurred/ out of focus vision
• swollen/painful/ cold hands and feet
• swollen & painful lymph glands -especially under my left armpit
• coughing
• joint pain
• persistent cold
• insomnia (not constantly)

Given that you have tried so many things, including so many antibiotics, I would go at this slightly differently at this point.

Since you are experiencing no relief in your symptoms, even with everything you are taking, then I would stop what you are taking.

Then I would begin the following (in order of importance):

1) Every morning, first thing, make and drink the following:

Juice 2 pieces of fresh ginger the size of your thumb (you can use the pulp also by letting it soak in 8 ounces hot water for 4-6 hours, or overnight, then straining. This will give you a second cup of tea, just reheat it later).

Take the juice and add 8 ounces hot water, 1/8 tsp cayenne, one quarter of a lime (squeeze it and then drop it in, juice and all) and tbl of honey. Drink.

Do this 4-6 times daily. (If you get used to it, the cayenne can be increased to ¼ tsp.

This is intended to address cold hands and feet (cold in general), swelling, low immune function, poor circulation, and fatigue.

2) Poke root tincture (Phytolacca Americana) – people have varying responses to dosages of this herb. Some people can only do a few drops, others a teaspoonful, so start slow and work up. It will take some time to find your dose (probably). Begin with 3 drops 3x per day. Pay close attention to your response. If you tolerate it well, then increase the dose to 5 drops per day, then to 8, then to 10, and so on. My personal sense is that your dose is going to be somewhere between 10 and 30 drops but better to start slowly and work up.

Side effects of poke overdose look like this: at lower doses mental unclarity, spaciness, out of body feelings. However one of the problems you will encounter is that these side effects are pretty similar to your symptom picture. If you get a high overdose the side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. In my experience the herb is very safe and people tolerate it well.

Poke root is intended to help your lymph problem (primarily) but may also strongly affect joint pain, swelling, low energy, and immune function.

3) Teasel root tincture – begin with 3 drops 3x daily for one week, if there is no alteration in your joint pain increase the dosage to 10 drops 3x daily for one week, if no alteration in joint pain, then increase to full dropper of tincture for one week, if no alteration, then increase to 1 tsp 3x daily.

For joint pain, swelling in joints, and infection.

I have other things I can suggest as time goes on but I want to see how you respond to this first. In instances where someone has been taking so much stuff without effect for so long, I generally suggest stopping all of it and then working with a very few things intently, then adding more as the picture changes.

Given that this may be so focused, you may want to email me directly. Hope this begins the healing.

Stephen

This protocol was incredible. After only a few weeks most of my symptoms were gone. After six months all my symptoms were gone… it has given me my life back.

NT Factor and ATP Fuel are helping me dramatically with debilitating fatigue. I read about it from Dr. Garth Nicolson – and have just completed my first week. Initial I had bursts of energy likely my old self – and now I have some staying power. Looking forward to continued improvement.

I must add that I am so relieved to hear about Stephen Buhner’s Collagen Protocol – and wonder why none else informed me about this college depletion due to lyme – over the years of my treatment and research.

    Kudos to Buhner!!

Hi Dr. I was going to purchase your start pack for Lyme and coinfections. I don’t have Lyme but I’ve been batting with NGU (non gono urethritis) for a while now. I’ve been taking antibiotics and they haven’t worked so I wanted to know if you can provide me with a link or a list of some things I can buy and do to get rid of this or is your starter pack efficient enough to take care of this problem?
