Dear Stephen,
Do you think it is possible to make a tea with all the capsules that you need for your day except for andrographis and sip it all day? Would it be as powerful this way and would the taste be bearable? Sipping a tea all day is quite nice and would relax more the GI track from all the capsules. Just a thought. Also what do you think about the smilax in the liquid form and what would be the dosage?
Stephen’s response:
If you want to, you can try combining ¼ cup of each of the herbs you are using and then adding one quart of hot water to them, cover and let steep overnight. Strain (and squeeze the herbs to remove all liquid) the next day and drink throughout the day. See how that works for you. I am not much a fan of smilax these days but I would suggest 30 drops of tincture, 3-4x daily.

Stephen Harrod Buhner was an Earth poet and an award-winning author of twenty-four books on nature, indigenous cultures, the environment, and herbal medicine including the acclaimed book Healing Lyme: Natural Healing & Prevention of Lyme Borreliosis & Its Co-infections.
Stephen came from a long line of healers including Leroy Burney, Surgeon General of the United States under Eisenhower and Kennedy, and Elizabeth Lusterheide, a midwife and herbalist who worked in rural Indiana in the early nineteenth century. The greatest influence on his work, however, was his great-grandfather C.G. Harrod who primarily used botanical medicines, also in rural Indiana, when he began his work as a physician in 1911.
Stephen’s work has appeared or been profiled in publications throughout North America and Europe including Common Boundary, Apotheosis, Shaman’s Drum, The New York Times, CNN, and Good Morning America. Stephen lectured yearly throughout the United States on herbal medicine, the sacredness of plants, the intelligence of Nature, and the states of mind necessary for successful habitation of Earth.
He was a tireless advocate for the reincorporation of the exploratory artist, independent scholar, amateur naturalist, and citizen scientist in American society – especially as a counterweight to the influence of corporate science and technology.

I consumed adrographis tea from the dried herb for years. It is very bitter. It is very different to taking the capsules.
You have to build up to a level teaspoon of dried cut herb. I had a 1/4 teaspoon for a while and built up as i tolerated it. It is a wonderful herb that many would find almost impossible to overdose on as it is extremely bitter. Steep for 10 minutes. I put my daily teaspoon of dried andrographis into a 3 cup pot with other herbs that help my condition. You can add a bit of licorice root to take the edge off the bitters. But eating something sweet with it helps too. I think that the tea offers something that the capsules do not. I found that the capsules were mainly the leaves where as the tea is mainly the stem of the plant. excellent product. I now grow and dry my own. very easy to grow but harvest it before the stems are too thick to cut into little bits for the drying process. Good luck with your journey :)
I tried this protocol this morning. I made it with cat’s claw powder (and whole form because I bought the whole form by accident lol it was under a different name!)and Knotweed in powder. The tea was great. Bitter but edible. And I felt great when I drank it. Easy to drink. In the future I want to try to up my dosing by drinking this 3 times a day (hopefully won’t be too expensive) so it’s the same dosing as in the core protocol. so far if I buy the 3 herbs from 1st chinese herbs (which has excellent shipping!) the cost is around 79 dollars probably per week… if a lower dose like what’s described here; 79 dollars might last me 12 days….. don’t quote me on that though! I can try to post again in a year after I develop a routine! And know for sure what the real costs are! :)
4 days takes about a pound each of cats claws and japanese knotweed.
How much knotweed and cats claw are you steeping and in how much water each day? Thanks!
