Dear Stephen,
Do you know of an effective herbal remedy for the Zika virus?

What I recommend for Zika:

Scutellaria baicalensis: Tincture, ½ to one tsp 3-6x daily.
Astragalus: Tincture, ½ to one tsp 3-6x daily.
Zika, with neural complications, add:
* Polygonum cuspidatum (Japanese knotweed): 1 TBS root powder 3x daily in liquid or 1 TBS tincture 3x daily or resveratrol tablets made from knotweed root 1000 mg 3-6x daily.
* Pueraria lobata: Tincture, ½ to one tsp 3-6x daily.

Stephen Harrod Buhner was an Earth poet and an award-winning author of twenty-four books on nature, indigenous cultures, the environment, and herbal medicine including the acclaimed book Healing Lyme: Natural Healing & Prevention of Lyme Borreliosis & Its Co-infections.
Stephen came from a long line of healers including Leroy Burney, Surgeon General of the United States under Eisenhower and Kennedy, and Elizabeth Lusterheide, a midwife and herbalist who worked in rural Indiana in the early nineteenth century. The greatest influence on his work, however, was his great-grandfather C.G. Harrod who primarily used botanical medicines, also in rural Indiana, when he began his work as a physician in 1911.
Stephen’s work has appeared or been profiled in publications throughout North America and Europe including Common Boundary, Apotheosis, Shaman’s Drum, The New York Times, CNN, and Good Morning America. Stephen lectured yearly throughout the United States on herbal medicine, the sacredness of plants, the intelligence of Nature, and the states of mind necessary for successful habitation of Earth.
He was a tireless advocate for the reincorporation of the exploratory artist, independent scholar, amateur naturalist, and citizen scientist in American society – especially as a counterweight to the influence of corporate science and technology.

Thank you very much, Stephen, for this protocol. I’ll be saving it in case I need it for myself — or for a friend. I already have many of the suggested herbs on hand (for Lyme and the co-infections). And I’ll be checking out the ones I don’t already have. Thank you!!! You are such a gift to the planet!!!
Dear Stephen.
I have bought the plum flower brand powdered form of Chinese cats claw(gou teng). Can you advice please what mg dosage do I put into the empty capsules?I can only see your instructions for the tincture form of this herb in your new book Can you advice also How you calculate your body weight against dosage amount?thanks for helping lyme sufferers world wide
Hi Callum,
On page 355 of Healing Lyme, second edition, it says to use 1 tsp of Cat’s Claw powder, 3-6x daily in juice or water, starting slow and working up. It also says dosage can be decreased or increased as necessary. I’ve never encapsulated the herbs myself so I’m not sure how much fits into a capsule. But I would try to put 1 tsp in, if possible.
The standard capsule dosage is based on a 150 lb adult. So to figure out dosage, you divide by 150. For example, if the recommended dosage is 3 capsules and you weigh 150, then you take 3 capsules. If you weigh 50 lbs then you take 1 capsule (50/150=1/3 of dose=1 capsule). If you weigh 90 lbs, dose is 2 capsules (100/150=0.6 of dose=1.8 capsules).
Hope this helps! Julie
Are the above safe if you are pregnant?
