with Stephen Harrod Buhner, master herbalist
I recently ate some fresh ginger root that seasoned a Chinese dish I had and had a strong herx afterwards. I’ve read that ginger has some antimicrobial effects, but wondered what you might know about the topic.
Stephen’s response:
Ginger is a very good antimicrobial and antiviral. I use it myself when coming down with the flu (along with cayenne and honey). It may indeed be the cause.

Hi Carmen,
To ask Stephen Buhner a question about his lyme protocol as outlined in his book Healing Lyme, please use the “submit a question” button in the upper right corner of any of his Q & A columns, just under his photo. If your question is unrelated to lyme disease, please contact him directly through his website http://www.gaianstudies.org. Thanks, and good luck! Julie

Hi Gillian,
Glad you found us. Not sure if you have lyme disease, as you posted this comment in our Healing Lyme column. Here are some links on our site related to pesticide poisoning and chemical injury that might provide helpful information:
http://planetthrive.com/2007/12/permanent-injury/

I would also encourage you to post in our community forum (http://planetthrive.ning.com/forum) – our members have a large knowledge base about chemical injury and may be able to share personal experience on healing from pesticide poisoning. It is definitely possible to heal the body, but it might be a longer timeframe than expected.
The important thing is to adjust your diet and lifestyle so that you stop new chemical injury from occurring, heal damage from past injury, and nourish the body and brain with appropriate nutrients.
Best of luck!! Julie
