Astragalus for lyme

by | Nov 1, 2016 | astragalus, Herbs | 5 comments

Dear Stephen,
I have seen variations of this question in your Q & A. Basically, I’d like to know why astragalus is contraindicated for people with chronic lyme? I noticed this information on your site here, but have not noticed any such information in the second edition of your Healing Lyme book. Also, to confirm, astragalus is safe to use as a preventative tonic indefinitely at 1000 mg per day during “off season” for ticks?

Stephen’s response:
For some people it can make symptoms worse, I talk about this more in depth in the second edition of Healing Lyme where I do note that for some people it really does make the condition worse, for some it helps. It is safe to use indefinitely.
Stephen

This protocol was incredible. After only a few weeks most of my symptoms were gone. After six months all my symptoms were gone… it has given me my life back.

My worse condition is the parasites in nose brain body
    Little worms crawling everywhere
And the candida can’t get rid of for years – gut underlying problem

    Hi Pam,
Have you done 23andme.com genetics testing? Do you know if you have 3 variants for the FUT2 gene? Just wondering. I just found out I have that issue and I have lifelong Crohn’s disease. The 3 variants on my FUT2 gene means I cannot keep prebiotic sugars in the lining of my intestines and so there is no food for beneficial bacteria. I must now supplement with the prebiotic sugars for life. I just started Digestacure. Just wanted to share that in case it could help you in some way. If you do have the 23andme results, you can run it in the report from MTHFRsupport.com for $30 and then have the founder of that site, Sterling Hill, do a consult. She is brilliant when it comes to methylation genetics – she is the one who told me all that^^. Best, Julie

Hi Pam, I believe it is Lyme which has morphed into something else; I have the same if not worse problem in just about every pore in my body, scalp, ears, etc.

Hi Julie- how did the DigestaCure work out for you. I’m currently researching it myself.

    Hi Sonya,
I did high amounts for many months but it did not ultimately make a big difference for me so I stopped it. I am a difficult case though, it seems. Don’t let my experience sway you from it. You should see how your body reacts to it. Best, Julie
