Gua sha originated in China during the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) and has roots in traditional Chinese medicine. “Gua” 刮 translates as “to scrape” “Sha” 痧 translates as “disease, illness, or sand”. This refers to the small red dots that can appear on the body when firm pressure is applied and is an indication of disease, stagnation, and heat leaving the body.

I purchased the Empress Stone, Empress Wand, and Aura Stone. So far I’ve mainly been using the Empress Stone on my face. I love the ritual of cleaning my face and then applying oil, before using the stone to massage and stimulate the lymph to flow. I’ve also used the Aura Stone on my feet like a reflexology tool. It really helps me with my chronic pain issues. I’m so glad I have this tool set of quality stones.
